The University of Ghana Chess Club on Friday held their first general meeting of the semester at the Jubilee Hall, Legon on Friday the 25th of August, 2017.
The agenda for the meeting was to approve the club’s constitution, induct the club’s new hall captains and to discuss the club’s programme line-up for the semester.
The President of the University of Ghana Chess Club Bubu Buku revealed this in an interview with Univers Sports saying “the agenda was one; to approve our constitution. The chess club, we are building the structure again so then we have a constitution which we wanted to approve” he continued saying “and also we wanted to induct our captains for the various halls and also to finally approve our programme line-up for the semester.”
Mr. Buku shed more light on the discussions held at the meeting stating that no changes were made to the club constitution which was approved at the meeting “with the constitution, we all have already been working on it, so then we didn’t actually make any changes so then everything went well and we just approved it.”
The induction of the new hall captains however didn’t go according to plan as some of the captains to be inducted failed to make the meeting and so the induction has been rescheduled according to Mr. Buku “we are looking at doing that during our next meeting which will be also the launch of the Chess Club and the launch of the league that will be on 9th September.”
The Chess Club will now be holding a training session on the 2nd of September.
